“Sustainability communication is a process of understanding that is concerned with future-proofing social development, centered on the guiding principle of sustainable development” (Michelsen, 2007).

There are some difficulties associated with communicating sustainability issues, challenges and goals. These are evident in various fields of practice such as corporate communication, journalism and science communication, and are presented in more detail below.
